Estrada fetes preschoolers

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada joined personnel of the Manila Social Welfare Department as they distributed school supplies to 1,500 preschoolers over the weekend at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Among the supplies given were school bags, pencils, jogging pants, shoes, and hygiene kits.

The program is under the Early Childhood Care and Development Program of the MSWD to highlight the initiative of the city chief executive’s “Bata at Matanda, Alaga sa Maynila.”

The mayor said about 28,500 preschoolers will benefit from the program.

In the hygiene kit are a toothbrush, toothpaste, towels, and soap to ensure the health and wellness of the students aged three to four years old.

Estrada said he gets inspired by parents who sacrifice to give the best for their children.

“To you, parents and young children, I draw inspiration from you to serve you faithfully and properly,” said the mayor.

He reiterated that as long as he is mayor, all Manila residents will be assisted well and taken care of.

“Everyone, young and old, will be assisted sufficiently, and even more,” Estrada added.

He said that under the Early Childhood Care and Development Program, all children will be under the care and guidance of the personnel of the City’s Day Care Center.

Parents will have peace of mind while working because their children are well taken care of by the personnel of the Day Care Center, Estrada said.

“Our goal is that while the kids are in Day Care, they will enjoy and learn and be happy with their fellow children,” the mayor said.

He praised and saluted the parents who sacrificed and worked hard to give their children the best they have.

“The city government’s program will help parents make sacrifices and work hard for their children’s welfare and safety,” Estrada said.

“In Manila, we assure you that all preschoolers will be given genuine care and concern,” he added.

The city government will continue the feeding program for malnourished children to ensure they will grow healthy and happy.

He promised to ensure the progress and development of Manila under his care and watch.
